You’re Invited- Mental Health in Healthcare: Considerations for Patients and Providers Seminar

Join the Kansas State Athletic Training program in recognizing National Athletic Training Month at the Athletic Training Month Seminar on Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the K-State Alumni Center.

This seminar will feature both a keynote speaker as well as a panel discussion. The seminar will focus on the role of mental health in healthcare: considerations for patients and providers.

The keynote address will be given by Rick Burkholder, vice president of sports medicine and performance for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Panelists include:

  • Kyle Goerl, associate medical director, , K-State Athletics team physician; Lafene Health Center
  • Anne Weese, director of mental wellness and sports Psychology; K-State Athletics
  • Evan Craft, assistant athletic trainer; Kansas City Chiefs
  • Carina Metzgar, athletic trainer and student; University of Denver- Sport and Performance Psychology
  • Keith Wright, family practice physician, K-State Athletics team physician; Stonecreek Family Physicians
  • Joe Stonecypher, master resilience trainer-performance expert; R2 Training Center
  • Ashley Rencher, master resilience trainer-performance expert; R2 Training Center

Student and community professionals can register for free in advance or $5 at the door. Professionals looking to earn CEU’s can register for $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Online registration can be found here.

The National Athletic Training Month is held every march in order to spread awareness about the important work of athletic trainers. This year’s theme is “ATs are Health Care”. For more information on National Athletic Training Month, visit the NATA’s website.
