Nutrition doctoral student selected for New York Science Day

Kavitha Penugonda was one of only 52 graduate students and postdocs nationwide selected to participate in Journey through Science Day sponsored by PepsiCo and the New York Academy of Sciences in December.
She presented on "Determination of Bioavailable Iron and Vitamin A in Sorghum, Cowpea, Corn and Soybean Fortified Blended Foods."
The event was at the World Trade Center in New York. Students interacted with PepsiCo research and development leadership on areas ranging from food science to engineering.
Penugonda, who received her doctorate in December 2015 from the human nutrition department in the College of Human Ecology, was the only K-State participant.
