A lawn full of faculty, staff, dignitaries and family helped dedicate Mary and Carl Ice Hall, the latest addition to the College of Human Ecology, on Oct. 24. Willie the Wildcat added his congratulations and signaled the unveiling of the stone sign displaying the building's new name.
The Ices were instrumental in funding the purchase of the Research Park facility for the college.
"In the College of Human Ecology, we are passionate about what we do, whether it be teaching, providing service, or conducting research. We strive to provide transformative, educational experiences aligned with a culture of creativity, scholarship and research productivity," said Dean John Buckwalter at the ceremony. "Mary and Carl Ice share that passion for the activities we value. And they back it up with loyalty, and commitment of their time and resources."
"This building will enhance our ability to provide a host of solutions to some of today’s complex problems," he added.
Visitors toured facility that will house projects for the departments of kinesiology; apparel, textiles and interior design; and human nutrition; the School of Family Studies and Human Services and the Institute for Academic Alliances.
