Early Childhood Education
Do little kids crack you up? Are you amazed at how much they learn in such a short time? Early childhood education is the place to be if you want to work as a teacher or administrator in early care and education programs for preschool children. As part of their studies, students work with children in the Ruth Hoeflin Early Childhood Education Center. Many graduates are employed as a certified lead teacher in public, corporate, military or nonprofit childcare centers, while others pursue graduate work in early childhood education. The first years of a child’s life are the most essential to learning and development. Here’s your chance to make a big impact every day of your life!

Alumni Advice to Future Students:
“I loved how close knit our program was. It was easy to get to know the professors and other students, which provided a lot of opportunities for me. Each semester that I was in the program, I was able to take some kind of internship, or had some kind of classroom experience. This was so helpful in making what I was learning real and applicable.” — Jana Hawkins, ’05 early childhood education, developmental specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
