Happy New Year!
The start of the New Year always allows for renewal of goals and commitments. This month I'd like to share ideas how you can encourage your mentee to set SMART goals and how you can assist them in achieving these goals.
Take a few minutes to read Facilitating Mentee-Driven Goal Setting by Lois J. Zachary and Lory A. Fischler. While this article is written with workplace mentoring in mind, it also applies to a student-professional mentoring relationship. Encouraging your mentee to set their own goals, yet being able to offer assistance and advice is key. If you have not yet reviewed the Professional Mentoring Program's video training module on goal-setting, please take a few minutes to do so.
Thank you for your time and efforts that you give to K-State Human Ecology students! We are looking forward to another excellent year ahead. As always, please contact me if you have questions or concerns.
