ATID Showcase of Excellence is Thursday, April 12

Monday, April 2, 2018

The Showcase of Excellence runway show and mounted exhibit kicks off the 14th annual Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design Student Symposium on Thursday, April 12. The theme for the 2018 symposium is "GET TO THE CRUX."

The runway show and mounted exhibit provide K-State students and middle and high school students the opportunity to have their work selected to be shown to the public and industry professionals. The mounted exhibit runs April 10-19 in William T. Kemper Art Gallery of the K-State Student Union (open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). An opening reception will be Thursday, April 12 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.  The runway show follows at 7:00 p.m. in McCain Auditorium.

This year's theme, "GET TO THE CRUX," is about defining how the entered work represents the most important part or essential point of a problem. It is the basic, central, pivotal, vital, decisive, or critical point.  To get to the crux of a problem we must peel back the layers and find out what something is really about.  It is a brief version of the essential meaning of something.

The Showcase of Excellence is a ticketed event. Tickets are available for purchase now online, or by phone at 785-532-6428. For more information about the student symposium events visit he.k-state.edu/atid/events/symposium/.
