Diane Parks selected as 2014 commencement speaker

A 1974 graduate in fashion merchandising, Parks received the college’s executive leadership award in 2012. She received a master's in business administration marketing from Georgia State University.
The native Kansan is a strong advocate for developing women as leaders.
An executive for large pharmaceutical and biotech companies for more than 30 years, Parks recognized the value of gaining sales experience and she was accepted into an executive sales rotation program where she spent 18 months as a sales representative, hospital representative and finally a national account manager with Marion Laboratories. There she led the launches of several new drugs, most notably the antihistamine Allegra and diabetes drug Amaryl.
As vice president of marketing she led five therapeutic marketing teams as well as an internal advertising team.
She joined Amgen, a multinational biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, Calif., in 2007. She and her team represent oncology and nephrology products.
The speaker and her husband Tim have two grown daughters.
