Margaret Weller chosen as student commencement speaker

Margaret Weller will represent her class as student speaker at commencement ceremonies for the College of Human Ecology at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in Bramlage Coliseum on the Kansas State University campus.

Weller is the college’s Outstanding Senior in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

She is president of Mortar Board Senior Honor Society; under her leadership the group won the Golden Torch Award, the highest honor a chapter can achieve. She also served as executive Panhellenic Delegate with Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

The past president of the Chinese Culture Club, she has studied Mandarin Chinese. She has received awards for her accomplishments in student leadership, debate and forensics. Other activities include the Student Alumni Board, the Student Foundation, The Pre-Law Club, and K-State Ambassador for Johnson County.

In 2005 she founded Maggie’s Cakes.

She is the daughter of Coleen and Rick Weller, Overland Park.
