Student Alumni Board wins national award

Thursday, September 6, 2012

The Student Alumni Board -- a student group sponsored by the K-State Alumni Association -- recently earned a national award recognizing its new member training program. It won the Outstanding Internal Program category, which recognizes programs supporting the structure, budget and camaraderie of the organization.

Mollie Stephens, junior in hotel and restaurant management, was among the students represented the Student Alumni Board at the 2012 Affiliated Student Advancement Programs Conference sponsored by the National Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Other students were Jordan Pieschl, sophomore in agricultural communications and animal sciences and industry; Andrew Strasburg, senior in international agribusiness; and Andrew Waldman, senior in industrial engineering.

The conference was Aug. 9-11 in Indianapolis and was attended by more than 500 student leaders and advisers from schools across the country.

"Student Alumni Board is an enthusiastic group of current students who help promote K-State at a variety of university and alumni association activities," said Megan Sherlock, associate director for student programs for the K-State Alumni Association. "SAB has continued to be successful for more than 30 years because of programs like the new member training program that engages students with the alumni association while they are students."
