Aug. 7 event to honor personal financial planning program, students, alumni

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Kevin R. Keller, chief executive officer of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Board of Standards Inc. in Washington, D.C., will keynote A Wildcat Night: Celebrating K-State Personal Financial Planning Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the K-State Alumni Center.

Awards will be announced for Young Achiever, Distinguished Alumni, Faculty and Staff Award, Friend of Personal Financial Planning and students of the year for undergraduate, masters and doctoral students.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by Keller’s address and awards. The evening will end with a dessert reception in Tointon Great Room.

Cost of event is $35, $15 for undergraduate students. Registration, which closes July 31, is available online at www.found.ksu.edu/rsvp/pfp. The reception is open to the public.

The salute to the personal financial planning program in the school of family studies and human services follows Fort Riley Financial Readiness Day, the first financial planning day at any military installation. It is sponsored by the CFP Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association, Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education and the Foundation for Financial Planning.

The Institute of Personal Financial Planning and the Institute for the Health and Security of Military Families at K-State are honorary partners.

The College of Human Ecology’s Personal Financial Planning doctoral program is one of only four registered with the CFP® Board and the first in the nation to be conducted largely online. Students spend three summer sessions on the Manhattan campus.
