Shanklin Named Graduate School Dean

Carol Shanklin, a veteran administrator and educator in food service and dietetics, has been named dean of the Graduate School. Also this week, she received the prestigious Founder’s Award at the 14th Hospitality Graduate Education and Graduate Research Conference.
Since October, Dr. Shanklin has been the school’s interim dean; before that she served as acting dean and associate dean.
Professor in the Department of Hospitality Management and Dietetics, she was honored at the Las Vegas conference for outstanding dedication, commitment and leadership in the field of tourism and hospitality.
Since joining the K-State faculty in 1990, Shanklin has served as major professor for 21 Ph.D. and 27 M.S. students and has mentored numerous others.
She has received extramural funding to support her research in food safety in retail foodservice, environmental issues, and customer satisfaction in continuing care retirement communities.
