K-State’s annual Travel & Dining auction April 11 offers night of food, fun

MANHATTAN — A night of fancy food, vintage wine and a chance to bid on a variety of travel and dining opportunities awaits at the annual Kansas State University Travel and Dining Auction.

The auction will be 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the K-State Alumni Center. It will include special wines, festive appetizers, coffee and fruity desserts. Tickets cost $12 in advance and can be purchased from Megan Link at meglink@k-state.edu or Hannah Locklear at hannahl@k-state.edu. Tickets also can be purchased at the door for $15.

Students in the K-State College of Human Ecology’s hotel and restaurant management program present the auction, with the money raised supporting scholarships and professional development for students in the program.

A silent auction will start the evening. It will end with a live auction featuring such items as a seven-night stay at the InterContinental San Juan Resort and Casino in Illinois, valued at $2,000; golf excursions in Kansas City; and a private wine tasting for 12.

Items in the silent auction include a Hibachi Hut and Texas Star gift basket filled with shirts, an assortment of sauces, towels and gift certificates from both restaurants. Also available will be a Starbucks gift basket for the java junkie and many more items.

A complete listing of auction items and more information about the event is available at http://www.kstatehms.com
