College of Human Ecology

K-State apparel design students earn competition honors

MANHATTAN -- Apparel design students from Kansas State University have taken top honors or placed highly in two recent competitions.

The events included the Kansas City Fashion Group International competition, where K-State students earned a first-place and a second-place finish; and the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association's student design competition, where K-Staters won five out of six national awards.

K-State students receiving honors include:

Jennifer Swander, senior in apparel design, De Soto, fourth place, Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association student design competition.

From Greater Kansas City: Jessica Ponnath, senior in apparel design, second place, and Elizabeth Kuzila, December 2007 bachelor's graduate in apparel marketing and design, third place, both of Kansas City, Kan., and both in the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association student design competition; and Molly Shannon, senior in apparel design, Shawnee, second place in the personal shopper board category, Kansas City Fashion Group International competition.

Juan Garcia, senior in apparel and textiles, Herington, first place in the original design category, Kansas City Fashion Group International competition; Ashley Snyder, junior in apparel design, Lyndon, sixth place, Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association student design competition; and Amanda Ratzlaff, senior in apparel design, Manhattan, fifth place, Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association student design competition.
