Webb wins distinguished service award
Thursday, January 24th, 2008
Farrell Webb, associate professor of family studies and human services, was honored this week for his support of diversity efforts at K-State.
He is winner of the Commerce Bank Presidential Faculty/Staff Award for Distinguished Service to Minority Students. The award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the development of high-quality education for students of color at K-State.
“Dr. Webb’s thorough grounding in statistics and metrics, as well as theory and methods, have helped countless Ph.D. students of color finish their dissertations and graduate as scholars and teachers into the academy, which even today is still a closed society for many multicultural students,” read one letter nominating Webb for the recognition.
The award, established in 1978, comes with a $1,000 prize.
The 2007 student recipient of the Commerce Presidential Award for Enhancing Multiculturalism is Clemente Jaquez-Herrera, a fifth-year architecture student, Garden City.
Both were honored at a reception Jan. 22 in the K-State Alumni Center.
