Congratulations, Lauren Luhrs

Lauren Luhrs and her teammates won first place recently in an international leadership competition.

The team, consisting of three K-State seniors and a student from the University of Delaware, participated in the case study competition at the ninth annual International Leadership Association conference Nov. 7-10 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lauren will earn a BS degree in Human Ecology and Mass Communications with specializations in Apparel and Textiles and Public Relations.

Teams were given a 23-page document from the Harvard Business School which detailed specifics for leadership development at Goldman Sachs, a global investment banking and securities firm. They had 43 hours to work up an executive summary and 20-minute presentation.

“Our students’ presentation for the case study competition was absolutely
brilliant,” said Grace Hwang, assistant professor of leadership studies. “It highlighted many of the values that K-State’s leadership studies program stands for, such as inclusion, intercultural competencies, ethics and how to bring about positive change.”
