K-State research and extension selects summer interns

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Research and Extension has named nine students as 2007 summer interns. The interns will assist Extension agents and staff in planning and implementing educational programs for residents in Kansas counties.

The interns, in alphabetical order by last name, followed by major, hometown and (in parentheses) district, county or organization in which they will work, are: Kyle Baker, animal sciences and industry, Burden, Kan. (Russell County); John Bergin, agricultural education, Meriden, Kan. (Scott County); Kelsey Frasier, agricultural economics with specialty in public relations, Limon, Colo. (McPherson County); Heather Gartrell, family and consumer sciences education, Stockton, Kan. (Central Kansas District); Erin Matile, animal sciences and industry and agricultural education, Dennis, Kan. (Trego County); Catherine Metzgar, nutrition and exercise science, Mound City, Mo. (Leavenworth County); Bailey Raaf, family life and community services, Gridley, Kan. (River Valley District); Ashley Watt, agricultural education, Rock, Kan. (Douglas County); and Kylie Zibell, family life and community services, Holton, Kan. (Sedgwick County).

K-State Research and Extension, based at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan., offers programs, publications and newsletters focused on improving the quality of life for Kansans and others using science-based information. It has offices in all 105 Kansas counties.
