K-State recognizes classified employees

MANHATTAN -- At the 30th annual Kansas State University Classified Employee Recognition Ceremony May 23 in the K-State Student Union ballroom, workers were honored for their years of service and their achievements across campus.

Guest speaker Charles Reagan, associate to the president, lauded the daily efforts of classified employees, without whom the university's faculty and researchers could not complete their own work.

Thirty-eight classified employees who retired in 2006 were recognized, and more than 200 employees were honored for their length of service to K-State, ranging from five years to 45 years.

Named as K-State's classified employees of the year were 46 people selected by their college, administrative unit or university agency. They are:

Annette Allen, technical support consultant II, Division of Public Safety; Frieda Beat, human resources professional II, Division of Human Resources; Frances Benson, senior administrative assistant, registrar's office; Patty Berens, accountant III, College of Engineering; Sonja Block, equipment planning technician, computing and telecommunications services; Vergie Bowen, custodial specialist, Division of Facilities; Vanetta Brumbaugh, administrative assistant, A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications; Chuanmin "Min" Cheng, microbiologist III, department of diagnostic medicine and pathobiology; Teresa Conde, technology support technician I, office of undergraduate admissions; Nelwyn Cook, senior administrative assistant, department of clinical sciences; Dereatha Cross, technology support technician II, College of Architecture, Planning and Design; Connie Cusimano, senior administrative assistant, department of chemistry.
