K-State’s Chimes junior honorary inducts new members

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University’s junior honor society, Chimes, has selected new members for the 2007-2008 school year. Chimes promotes leadership, scholarship and service.

Members are selected during the spring of their sophomore year on the basis of past contributions of service and leadership to their fellow students at K-State. To become members, students must also have at least a 3.0 grade point average and be involved in campus and community activities.

The main project of Chimes each year is to select and recognize K-State’s Honorary Family as part of the university’s Family Day events. The group also participates in service projects and volunteers with area organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Douglass Community
Center.

Chimes members for 2007-2008 include:

James Swanson, sophomore in chemical engineering, Arkansas City; Ashley Bechard, sophomore in speech, Beloit; Leann Spinden, sophomore in agricultural education, Burns; Nathan Harms, junior in biology, and Kacey Provenzano, junior in nutritional sciences, both of Derby; Leah Peppiatt, sophomore in English, Ellsworth; Jamie Ball, sophomore in biology, Eureka.

From Greater Kansas City: David Hoffman, sophomore in advertising and electronic media, and Jessica Miller, sophomore in elementary education, both of Lenexa; Courtney Graham, junior in accounting, Overland Park; and Katie Beye, senior in political science, Stilwell.

Lindsay Graber, sophomore in agricultural communications and journalism, Hutchinson; Erin Gettler, sophomore in biology, Louisburg; Megan Dwyer, sophomore in regional and community planning, Lyons; Jessica Heath, junior in family studies and human services, Manhattan; Lauren Bauman, junior in pre-professional elementary education, Neodesha; Justin Geist, junior in computer science, Plevna; Rebecca Bush, junior in history, Pratt; Brett Eakin, junior in management, Rossville; Josh McGinn, junior in history, Sedgwick; Janna Sorensen, sophomore in communication sciences and disorders, Sylvan Grove; and Nikki Wayant, junior in mathematics, Topeka.

From out-of-state: Ana Miller, sophomore in management, Sapulpa, Okla.
