K-State’s Silver Key names new members for 2007-2008

MANHATTAN — Silver Key, Kansas State University’s sophomore leadership honorary that emphasizes community service, has its new members for the 2007-2008 school year.

Silver Key adviser Carla Jones, assistant vice president and senior associate dean of student life, said the group selects between 35 to 40 students for membership each spring. The students currently are in their first year of study at K-State and must have at least a 3.0 grade point average.

During the next school year, Silver Key members will participate in a variety of community service activities throughout the year. Past projects have included cleaning up along highways, food drives and helping children and the elderly.

New members of Silver Key for 2007-2008, their majors and hometown include:

Chelsey Mueller, pre-journalism and mass communications, Assaria; Samantha Bowman, nutritional sciences, Bucyrus; Kristen Henriksen, interior design, Courtland; Christopher Jones, chemistry, Derby; Rachel Day, business administration pre-professional, De Soto.

From Greater Kansas City: Marcela Gonzalez, industrial engineering, Kansas City, Kan.; Kevin Bamberger, business administration pre-professional, Lenexa; Jennifer Crainshaw, premedicine, Olathe; Claire Cody, arts and sciences-open option, Hailey Petersen, microbiology, and Ann Virgo, business administration pre-professional, all of Overland Park; and Josiah Cox, premedicine, Shawnee.
