Who We Are Charlie L. Griffin—is Project Director for Programs for Workplace Solutions. He has wide experience with dispute resolution focused on workplace and organizational settings. He assisted in the development of Kansas’ agricultural mediation program and has provided assistance to organizations, boards of directors, and communities with conflict resolution. Charlie has a background in marriage & family therapy, crisis intervention, and rural mental health. He is Project Director for the Kansas Rural Family Helpline, a resource referral and assistance program. Charlie is a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Family Studies and Human Services in the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University. Charlie continues to appreciate living in the country near Manhattan and dabbling with small-scale agriculture while pursuing his professional career. Contact Information: Melissa Sandmann—is Project Assistant for Programs for Workplace Solutions. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Services: Family Life and Community Service from Kansas State University. Melissa started working as an intern with the Kansas Rural Family Helpline and later moved full time into the SRS–KSU Organizational Development Contract, providing training for SRS employees around the state of Kansas. She currently provides part time support for the Kansas Rural Family Helpline, networking to locate and communicate the various resources available, locally, statewide, and nationally. Melissa also provides training in conjunction with USDA’s Risk Management Agency Education grant, however, her time is primarily spent developing, designing, and delivering training curricula for the SRS—KSU partnership. Contact Information: Kristy Archuleta—is a Family Resource Specialist under Programs for Workplace Solutions through the Kansas Rural Family Helpline. She assists in answering the phone, providing crisis intervention and emotional support, and locating resources for client families throughout the state. Her other responsibilities include networking with federal, state, and community organizations to locate valuable resources for rural families, advocating for the rural populations’ needs, values, and lifestyles, and serving on the AgrAbility Advisory Council. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Relations and Child Development and a business management minor from Oklahoma State University. Kristy is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is actively involved in the Trauma, Research, Education, and Consultation at K-State (TRECK) team. Her interests involve integrating personal financial planning and marriage and family therapy. Contact Information: Fedra Zamphiropolos-Sol—is a Family Resource Specialist under Programs for Workplace Solutions through the Kansas Rural Family Helpline. She is from Paraguay, South America. She assists in answering the phone, providing crisis intervention and emotional support, and locating resources for client families throughout the state. Her other responsibilities include networking with federal, state, and community organizations to locate valuable resources for rural families as well as advocating for the rural populations' needs, values, and lifestyle. Fedra became interested in this job because of her background in the rural atmosphere and counseling. Growing up in a country, mainly rural, she gained an appreciation for the interconnectedness of rural communities, the value placed on hard work, and the love of the land and nature. She graduated from a Catholic University in Paraguay in Psychology within the Clinical Tract. She also graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Contact Information: Sarah Buessing—is a Web Designer and Interactive Training Designer for Programs for Workplace Solutions. She designs and maintains websites for Kansas State Social and Rehabilitation Services Human Resources, the Kansas Rural Family Helpline, and Programs for Workplace Solutions. Sarah also develops and designs interactive online training in cooperation with Organizational Development to provide on-the-job training for SRS employees. In addition, she provides training and instruction for other designers within KSU and SRS, telecommuting from Kansas City, and spending on-demand time in Topeka. Sarah is a Creighton University graduate, with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a Graphic Design minor. Contact Information: Terrie R. McCants—is Project Coordinator for Programs for Workplace Solutions. In that capacity, she develops curricula for and trains material on conflict management and other human resource topics. Terrie is also a state approved mediator and mediation trainer and holds a Master’s Degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. She has advanced training in workplace, public policy, divorce and child-custody, and parent/adolescent mediation. Besides training and working as an organizational conflict consultant, Terrie also teaches courses at K-State on Core Skills for Conflict Resolution, Culture and Conflict, Violence Prevention and Intervention, and facilitates a study abroad course on Peace and Conflict in Northern Ireland. In addition, she works as a mediator at the School of Family Studies and Human Services’ Family Center. Contact Information: Shanna Trujillo—is Curriculum development and trainer for the Kansas SRS-KSU Organization Development contract under Programs for Workplace Solutions. Shanna has worked to create and deliver various trainings for SRS and KSU with topics including enhancing communication skills, improving working relationships, and the process of change. With a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Shanna has experience working with and facilitating various populations including adolescents and their families. Shanna primarily works from home so that she can be with her two young daughters. Contact Information: Linda Hessman—is a Family Resource and Outreach Specialist under Programs for Workplace Solutions for the Kansas Rural Family Helpline out of Dodge City. She assists in providing a broad perspective of what rural Kansan’s are facing throughout the state. Anthony Walker—is a Family Resource Specialist for the Helpline. He assists in answering the phone, providing crisis intervention and emotional support, and locating resources for client families throughout the state. His other responsibilities include networking with federal, state, and community organizations to locate valuable resources for rural families, advocating for the rural populations? needs, values, and lifestyles. Anthony is a self-proclaimed ARMY brat who recently moved with his wife to Manhattan. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marriage, Family and Human Development, and a minor in Psychology from Brigham Young University. He holds a provisional certification as a Certified Family Life Educator. Anthony is currently pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He is actively involved in the Trauma, Research, Education, and Consultation at K-State (TRECK) team as well as the Kansas All-Hazards Behavioral Health (KAHBH) Program. Other research interests include relational issues surrounding divorce. In addition to helping farm families, he is interested in developing and delivering workshops in community settings.
