Dr. Anderson's research interests include romantic relationship development, the process of change in marital quality across the lifespan and interventions to strengthen marriages and families. Current studies include an investigation of the cognitive and relational factors that are associated with diabetes management in couples where one partner has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (in collaboration with the KU Diabetes Institute), the development of young adult romantic relationships in Mainland China, and a longitudinal study of newlywed Army couples. Clinically, Dr. Anderson is interested in working with couples on the brink of divorce and self-development approaches to marriage and relationship education.
