Dietetics Master's Degree Program

Admissions Criteria

Graduate faculty members in the Department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health have carefully considered factors which predict success in graduate study, and have set the following guidelines for admission to the Master of Science in Dietetics distance program. These criteria comprise the guidelines used in assessing an applicant’s materials. Each person’s application is considered as a total package and on its own merits. The applicant not meeting all of the criteria may be denied admission or recommended for probationary or provisional admission.

Proof of Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

The applicant must hold the credential of Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Individuals who hold credentials offered by the following foreign regulatory boards are also eligible to apply:

  • Dietitians of Canada (DC)
  • Dutch Association of Dietitians/Ministry of Welfare, Public Health and Culture (NVD)
  • Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
  • Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI)
  • Health Professions Council (HCPC) United Kingdom

A copy of the applicant's CDR registration card or other official documentation of registration status must be submitted with the application.

Grade Point Average Requirements

Individuals applying for the Master of Science program in dietetics should have an overall GPA of 3.0 or a minimum of a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework.
