Course Section Permits
Course Section Permits are required to grant students permission to add a class. Permission may be required for one of the following reasons:
- The class has filled to its previously set capacity.
- The student is requesting to enroll after first week of classes has been completed.
- The class has an Enrollment Restriction — Instructor Permission requirement set by the instructor.
The course instructor determines if permission can be granted. Permission may be granted in either of two ways:
- The instructor can complete and sign a COURSE SECTION PERMIT form (available in department offices) for the student to deliver to Enrollment Services. After the first week of classes, the Course Section Permit must be accompanied by a reassignment form signed by the student's adviser.
- The instructor can grant permission electronically using KATS. This will enable the student to add the course using KATS through the end of the first week of classes, or at Enrollment Services. After the first week of classes, the student must take a reassignment form signed by his/her adviser to Enrollment Services to add the class, however, the electronic permission is still valid and a Course Section Permit form is not required.
