Assistant Coordinator of Nutrition Education Programs
Position
Assistant Coordinator for Nutrition Education Programs, K-State Research and Extension in Human Nutrition
Full time, 12-month, term with no consideration of tenure and standards for non-reappointment do not apply. Reappointment is contingent upon continued funding and a need for the services.
Position will focus on community-based nutrition education programs delivered through K-State Research and Extension. Work will be done in collaboration with FNP and EFNEP coordinator, KSRE faculty, nutrition educators and internal as well as external partners.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Identifying appropriate curricula for use in community based nutrition education programs for limited resource families
- Critiquing newly identified, developed or updated teaching materials
- Making timely updates to curricula, teaching tools and newsletters, and helping to identify key persons to participate in the revision process
- Participating in team development of new teaching materials as needed
- Assessing state nutrition education needs; identifying and integrating data needed to support program planning, implementation and evaluation
- Interfacing with state and federal program partners
- Staying current with latest research-based information related to nutrition and household food security
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree, with at least one degree in nutrition or closely related field
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups, and through mass media. Particular emphasis will be placed on ability to effectively write for low literacy audiences.
- Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
Preferred
- Experience working with people from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Experience in developing and evaluating informal educational programs
