Early Childhood Education Instructor in the School of Family Studies and Human Services
Position
Instructor, 12 month position, in the School of Family Studies and Human Services, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS
Effective: May 13, 2012
Responsibilities
Serve as lead teacher responsible for day-to-day program operations and management, demonstrating effective early childhood teaching and classroom management techniques with young children; supervising clinical pre-service students and teaching professional early childhood unified courses; fostering effective relations with parents, staff, and community; participating in professional activities at the local, state and national level.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in early childhood education, teacher licensure in early childhood unified and two years’ experience working with pre-school age children in a university lab school is required. Will consider applicants with Master’s degree in early childhood education, teacher licensure in early childhood unified and two years’ experience working with young children in group settings.
School Information
The School of Family Studies and Human Services offers undergraduate programs with emphases in communication sciences and disorders, early childhood education, family studies and human services, and personal financial planning. Graduate programs are offered in the areas of communication sciences and disorders, early childhood education, family studies, life span human development, marriage and family therapy, personal financial planning, and youth development. The School includes extension specialists in personal financial planning, human development, aging, and family systems.
The School operates centers, institutes, and laboratories offering programs and services dealing with early childhood care and education, speech and hearing, family life education, marriage and family therapy and personal financial planning. The School of Family Studies and Human Services includes approximately 42 faculty, 60 doctoral students, 225 master’s students, and 550 undergraduate students.
General Information
Kansas State University was founded in 1863 as a land-grant institution. It is centered on a 664- acre campus in Manhattan (population 50,000) located 125 miles west of Kansas City in the rolling Flint Hills of northeast Kansas. The university offers excellent academic programs, a lively intellectual and cultural atmosphere, and a friendly campus to its community of more than 23,000 students. The university is divided into nine colleges: agriculture; architecture, planning, and design; arts and sciences; business administration; education; engineering; human ecology; technology; and veterinary medicine.
