Assistant Professor in Interior Design, Department of Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design
Position
The Department of Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design in the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in Interior Design. This is a full time 9 month tenure-track appointment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of successful candidates will include teaching four or five undergraduate courses per year, actively engaging in scholarship, and providing service to the Interior Design Program, the Apparel, Textiles and Interior Design Department, the College of Human Ecology, and Kansas State University.
Qualifications
- Required
- A terminal degree in Interior Design or an allied design field and a minimum of five years of professional practice experience.
- Preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate success in university/college teaching and have expertise in one or more of the following areas: advanced level design studios, computer applications in Interior Design (AutoCAD & Revit), and hand graphic visualization. Membership in IDEC, IIDA or ASID, and successful completion of the NCIDQ examination are also preferred.
Departmental and Program Information
Kansas State University's Interior Design Program is housed in the Department of Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design in the College of Human Ecology. There are approximately 450 students in the ATID department. The Interior Design Program is a Bachelor of Science degree program. The program is accredited by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Enrollment in the Interior Design Program averages 150 students. First-year ID students are admitted through a selective admissions process. There are currently 15 faculty positions in the Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design Department. Six of these faculty positions are in the Interior Design Program.
College Information
The programs in the College of Human Ecology are central to the university's historic and present missions. The College is committed to the advancement, application, and dissemination of knowledge about the human needs of individuals, families, and communities. The College consists of 6 academic units and has enrollment of over 2400 students.
