Short Biography

Dr. Sneed came to K-State in the fall of 2011 as a Professor and Head of the Department of Hospitality Management and Dietetics. She moved to Kansas from northern Virginia where she was employed as a food safety specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service. She has been a faculty member at Iowa State University, Oregon State University, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Georgia. She also served as the first director of applied research for the National Food Service Management Institute located at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has extensive research and education experience related to food safety in retail foodservice operations, particularly in schools. She has received over $2 million for integrated food safety research and education. She was awarded the NSF International Lifetime Achievement Award for Food Safety Education and Research in 2007 and the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence Silver Friend of Child Nutrition Award in 2006.
