Short Biography
Gayle Doll’s primary goals as director of the Center on Aging have been centered on students. In the past few years under her leadership the number of students enrolled in the secondary major has more than doubled. Course offerings have been expanded and student support services have been increased. In research, the Center has become renowned for its work in changing the culture of nursing homes to become more person-centered. Staff concentrate on developing materials and training that improve the ability of nursing home staff to provide care that meets all resident needs. In more recent years this has included sexuality. In addition to these responsibilities, Doll is active in community and state programs that promote successful aging. She has received a Commerce Bank teaching award and speaks extensively in state and national forums.
