Short Biography
Debra M. Sellers, Ph.D is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in Adult Development & Aging, School of Family Studies and Human Services. Her primary area of interest is adaptive living for people with aging-related limitations or disabilities and their families and caregivers, with an emphasis on supporting functional abilities through access to services and technology. She provides leadership for the Family Caregiving Community of Practice for eXtension, a national, educational partnership of the land-grant university system. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience serving elders in a variety of settings, including long-term care facilities, retirement communities and government agencies. She is a member of the state-wide Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board, is a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence, and was voted as one of her city’s most admired people in 2001 (Manhattan, KS).
