Abby Hanzlicek '16

Abby Hanzlicek, MD, is the daughter of Gary and Rhonda Meyer and was raised in Sabetha, Kansas. During her senior year in high school she took an Emergency Medical Technician course and it was then that she determined she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. In high school, she was a Kansas Honor Scholar and a Kansas Board of Regents State Scholar. She participated in basketball and volleyball and made All League in volleyball for two years.

At Kansas State University, Hanzlicek pursued a bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences with a secondary major in gerontology. She graduated from K-State in May of 2016 and subsequently attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine at the Kansas City Campus. In 2020, she graduated from KU with her medical degree. She completed her residency at the Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency program in 2023.

Hanzlicek is board-certified in family medicine and is currently practicing rural family medicine, providing services in the emergency room, hospital and clinic in rural Nebraska.

Hanzlicek is married to Lance Hanzlicek and they are the proud parents of Laramie, age 2 and Baby H, 2 months. When she is not working as a physician, Hanzlicek enjoys spending time with family, traveling and working with Lance at their feedlot, L4 Feeders, LLC and going to cattle sales.
