Getting to Know You: An Afternoon in Norway
As the final part of the class project at the Health Care Unit, students presented "A Day in Norway" for residents and staff. Soft Norwegian music in the background set the mood as the 23 residents entered the room.
Residents received personal invitations to the event, which featured Norwegian cookies and breads served in the decorated dining room, followed by a short presentation and video about the traditions and history of Norway, recreational pastimes, and Norwegian cuisine.
Next residents were invited to share memories of special trips they had taken to Norway or another country.
Many staff members and residents commented that they enjoyed the presentation because it was very different from their usual activities in the health care unit. Because of the residents' enjoyment, staff plan to continue this type of special activity focusing on other countries.
